CHAFFEY - A Lovely Quirky Historic Home with spa, in the heart of town.

This sweet little cottage is in central Queenscliff, just 2 minutes to the shopping village, cafes and restaurants. The front sitting room has a gas wood fire, original timber floors and all the beautiful architectural features from the late 1800's, it also has a divan that folds out to a queen sized bed so it can be used for extra sleeping. There are 3 small bedrooms, the main has a queen bed, heater and ensuite. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds and is accessed through the bathroom. The 3rd bedroom has a set of bunks that can sleep children or adults and a selection of children's toys. The bathroom has a separate bath, shower & vanity. The toilet is separate. A top loader washing machine in the laundery allows for washing to be done if needed and there is a clothes line outside. The back part of the house is a modern extension which links to the front with a lovely atrium breezeway - wonderful for catching the summer evening cooling breezes. There are many beautiful features throughout the house - original bricks and timber from an old pier feature in the hall. Then the house opens up to a lovely large light filled extension with open plan kitchen and living area. Glass doors allow the area to flow to the fabulous courtyard deck and spa. What a wonderful spot to entertain friends or just unwind peacefully on your own. The well equipped kitchen has a nautical style with a gas stove, electric oven and Miele dishwasher. There is a large Open Fire Place and the owners will provide a starter pack of firewood. If you would like to use it for the duration of your stay you will need to provide the extra wood. There is a reverse cycle airconditioner in this area which is used for normal everyday heating and cooling. The dining table seats 8 and the lounge has a large TV. An electric sunblind provides some protection on those really hot sunny days.

The spa is outside under it's cover and there is an outside shower to wash off any sand before you go into the house or spa. The outdoor setting is for 8 and there is also a gas BBQ and sun umbrella.
The side car access is shared with the property next door and the gate needs to be kept closed. Parking is for 1 car but the owners find it easier to leave their cars parked out the front.

Author Talk: Step-up Mrs Dugdale

Dates: 20-October-2019 - 20-October-2019
www.historyofqueenscliffe.com/history-week.html Hear Perth based author Lynne Leonhardt speak about her new book 'Step Up, Mrs Dugdale'. Henrietta Dugdale is buried in the Queenscliff Cemetery and was one of Australia's first female activists. In 1867, Henrietta Augusta Dugdale, dairywoman of Queenscliff, is pushed to breaking point and leaves her fourteen-year marriage. With access to her children denied, she enters the freethinking world of Melbourne bohemia and sets out to change the law that casts women as property, with no legal rights of their own. A fearless crusader for women’s justice, the indefatigable ‘Mrs D.’ outclasses those who try to silence or belittle her, all the while haunted by the loss of her three sons, the dark undercurrents of the past and the mysterious fate of her first love. From newfound facts and family memorabilia, Lynne Leonhardt has created a luminous tale of love, loss, triumph and fortitude, set against the evocative coastal landscape of Port Phillip Bay and the wonder-city of Melbourne at the height of the gold-rush boom. Step Up, Mrs Dugdale is an unforgettable portrait of a pioneering suffragist—a hero for women, a trailblazer for her time. Sunday 20th October, 4pm, Queenscliffe Maritime Museum Finger food included. Blues Train Show

Dates: 05-October-2019 - 26-October-2019
For something decidedly different & entirely enjoyable, Queenscliff's legendary Blues Train is one of Victoria's most spectacular dining and entertainment experiences. The Blues Train offers a unique musical dinner and show ideal for weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions, Christmas celebrations and special occasions. The Blues Train is a licensed, over 18s only event. (Hens and Bucks nights are not permitted). The Blues Train event begins at the historic town of Queenscliff. Patrons tuck into a hearty meal prepared by our Blues Train caterers. Drinks to take on the journey are available on the platform from the T-bar in the guard's van, open at each of the four stops. At each stop revellers swap carriages to find a new band tuning-up ready for the next act. One of the carriages only has seating running along each wall. The seating arrangement and up-beat music in this carriage leaves little option other than getting up for a bit of a boogie. But you don't have to dig the blues to enjoy the Blues Train, you just have to be open to a really good time. The Blues Train runs along the old Geelong train line, stopping in turn at Suma Park historic homestead and winery, and then at Drysdale before turning around and making its way back to Queenscliff, again via Suma Park. It departs from and returns to Queenscliff Railway Station. Time: The bar opens at 6.30 pm. The event begins at 7 pm sharp and ends at 11.30 pm when the train returns to Queenscliff Railway Station.
